How it all began ...1985
Mick performed his first disco in 1985, he was asked by his careers teacher at school what he wanted to do, he said "be a DJ". She booked him for her birthday party at The Original Oak in Headingley.
Mick was too young to drive, his father took him in his campervan to the gig, his equipment was mostly home made (by his dad), and the amp and speakers
were a VOX system borrowed from his uncle Tony who was in a band.
It's all about the music with Micks
Disco
At the start of his career Mick carried over 600 singles and LPs all on vinyl, he upgraded to CDs in 1990 and then onto mp3 in 2000.
Mick has a simple formula to provide the best discos and that is to play requests.
Even back at the beginning of his
career, Mick would make the effort to keep up to date with the latest tunes and always tried to play as many requests as he could. Mick has gone from doing discos in pubs and clubs, to being a star of
YouTube
and TIKTOK
Micks Disco was the resident DJ the The Bay Horse
Pub, East Ardsley nr Wakefield he's been there since 1991 and
has performed over 1000 Discos and Quizzes at the
pub.
Previously he did a 6 month stint in 1990 at The Black Bull Pub in Dewsbury town centre, doing a staggering 3 REQUEST NIGHTS A WEEK.
Mick worked on a test radio transmission for "The Oldies Station" from the Leeds shopping Plaza, from a studio set up in a shop in the centre in plain view of the public
In his teenage years, Mick volunteered at Batley Hospital Radio before the hospital closed (it
wasn't his fault it closed... Honestly).
